Named in honor of Masataka Taketsuru, the founding father of Japanese whisky and Nikka Whisky. Launched in 2000, Taketsuru is a pure malt (vatted malt) whisky that represents the ultimate expression of his life's work—blending the whiskies of the two distilleries he lovingly built.

The blend primarily features the soft, elegant, and fruity spirit of Miyagikyo, perfectly balanced by the heavy, peaty, and oily malt from Yoichi. Maturation heavily relies on sherry casks, delivering an exquisite symphony of rich fruitcake, dark chocolate, and a sophisticated, wispy smoke.
