"The Northernmost Distillery on the Scottish Mainland."
"By hand and by heart, from the top of the world."
- Wolfburn Distillery
Originally founded in 1821, Wolfburn was once the largest distillery in Caithness before falling into ruin in the 1860s. In 2013, exactly 350 meters from the original site, the distillery was completely rebuilt from scratch, reawakening its historic spirit on the extreme northern coast of the Scottish mainland.
Wolfburn is a truly handmade whisky. They employ an incredibly slow manual mashing process and long fermentation to extract a sweet, floral character. The whisky is matured exclusively in dunnage warehouses right on the rugged coast, absorbing a gentle maritime salinity that perfectly balances its honeyed fruit notes.
