Built in 1881, Bruichladdich (pronounced brook-laddie) was designed to be the most modern distillery on Islay. Revived in 2001 by a group of private investors, it has become the most progressive distillery in Scotland, boldly focusing on transparency, 100% Scottish barley, and the concept of 'Terroir' in whisky.

Bruichladdich defies the Islay stereotype by producing its flagship 'Classic Laddie' entirely unpeated, showcasing floral elegance. Yet, in the same distillery, they produce 'Port Charlotte' (heavily peated) and 'Octomore' (the most heavily peated whisky in the world), all while refusing to use chill-filtration or artificial coloring.
