"Handmade in Speyside."
"The lost taste of classic Speyside."
- Gordon & MacPhail
Founded in 1898, Benromach suffered closures and silent periods until it was rescued by the legendary independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail in 1993. Completely refitted and officially reopened by King Charles in 1998, it set out to recreate the lightly peated, classic Speyside style of the pre-1960s.
Benromach is crafted almost entirely without the aid of modern computers. The distillers rely solely on their sensesโsight, sound, and touchโto run the stills and make cuts. Using lightly peated malt and a mix of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, the whisky reveals a beautiful harmony of dark chocolate, forest fruits, and a wisp of nostalgic smoke.
